 I Have just noticed my No 8 Puffers covered in white spots, and going round scratching themlves. I think it was safe to say I had an Ick outbreak. Theres no signs of it on my Angels or any other fish.

I have treated the tank with a whitespot antidote and turned up the temp to about 28 - 29 deg C.

Is there anything else I should do, I am trying to avoid quarantining them just now.

I have had a lot of ick to deal with and the best I have found is jungle ick away it seem to work over nite but I am not for sure about scaless fish but stuff is worth bying.I use all the jungle products I think they are the best

I have scaleless fish and with my last outbreak of ich I used RID ICH. It has about half of the usual strength of the other products that uses Malachite Green and says on the bottle that is is safer for scaleless. I treated my tank daily with it and I removed my charcoal filter while doing it. I would say maybe using it only every other day. My Catfish came through fine but I had a couple os sharks that didnt make it so maybe a daily dose was a bit overkill.
Hope this helps.

Are you keeping the puffers in brackish water? If not i would recomend moving them to a seperate tank with brackish water in.Many fish shops sell puffers and other brackish species as fresh water and as the fish mature they become prone to one disease after another, often infecting the rest of tank as well.

Sorry about my late reply. But anyway, Thanks for the advise guys, I am using INTERPET No 6 Anti White Spot. Its worked for me before so Ill see how I go. Though I did look in my lfs for the brands you mentioned but no luck. Maybe you can only get them in America? :/

cat fish crazy I think weve talked about this issue before with puffers and fresh water. I must admit I tended to disagree with you about this, using my own experience (with the puffers) as an example. But I am now more inclined to agree, although I have to say for the puffers sake I hope your wrong. Hopefully the cause of the white spot has been a rise in nitrate levels. But I am keen to investigate, do you know where I can read about this fact.

I'm doing the same for my betta (I can't remember the product name, but it's a malachite green/formalin mix).

I've been treating for three days going on four tonight. The product states to use for a maximum of three days, but I don't see any improvement in the cysts on my fish. In fact, it appears that he has MORE today. He's acting perfectly normal, but I'm hoping that he won't succomb to this.

How long should it be before I notice improvement in the cysts of ich?
