Can anybody please help?
I had 2 mollies, one was recently poorly with dropsy and has in the past few days gotten better, they were inseparable while he was ill, but the other one has suddenly died.
He is now frantically looking round the tank for his brother. What do I do?
Is it safe to get another one? Billy is 1 year old. Or would I be better off getting a few so he’s less likely to be aggressive?
Thanks in advance!

If you get any more, be sure to get either only male or only female, so long as the ratio is 1Mto3F. Is he frantically looking around or shimmying in place? Wiggling side to side rapidly? Regardless, I would wait a few days before getting more and continue to treat the tank.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

Do not add any new fish until you know why the first one died.
If you have a disease in the tank and you add new fish, they could die.
If there is a water quality problem in the tank, adding new fish will make this worse and potentially kill everything in the tank.
Adding new fish can introduce new diseases and make the remaining fish sick.

------------------
Do you have any pictures of the fish?
How long has the tank been set up for?
What is the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH and GH of the tank water?

------------------
Do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate every day for a week or until we work out what is going on?
Make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it's added to the tank.

------------------
The following link has information about what to do if your fish gets sick. It's long and boring but worth a read when you have some spare time. I recommend printing it out and reading it in bed to help fall asleep. :)
