Help!

guppy's cannot mate with platy's so no problem there but they can with mollies, as for about to give birth, faster breathing is the best sigh to look for :good:

One of my mollys that I bought had a flat belly and she is a female.

Is she ill?

if so what is it?

no, she is not ill. Livebearers will try to breed with ANYTHING, plants, ornaments, fish twice their size!!! Guppys can't breed with platys, they can breed with mollies but it's very hard, because females store sperm so they are probably already pregnant, and will be for a while.

Having a flat belly is illness or not?if so what is it?

This morning I captured a fry from my tank and I realized that some of my frys have "broken backs" and I dont know How that happened.

Was it when they were in the large tank or is it just an illness?

they could of been born like it, as a deformaty, they don't normally live very long. how many fry did you find?

I found about 25 fry and 4/5 of them were in bad shape!!!!!!!!

don't worry about it, you'll prob get a few in any batch no matter how experienced you are, they don't always die, so breeder choose to cull them at the earliest possible stage, i like to give mine a chance, so far we have had one make it to adult hood and she is still going strong today, she must be about 2 years old now she lives a pretty normal life although she is seperated from the others so the males don't breed with her.

but if they start to breed will the babies come out like their mother or father(out of shape)?

Is it true that if I separate the males from the females and the put 1 male and 1 female in a different place will the fry be like their father and mother only?
