I have a mbu puffer in a 6ft tank, I know he will nedd a larger tank in about a year but here is the problem. He stays on the right hand side of the tank constantly. I think he's been on the left side twice. Why is this?? He's supposed to need all this room but he doesn't use 60% of it. IS THIS NORMAL? you think he would at least get curious...

Cold be water quality issue, my puffer sat on the bottom and didnt move when i had a nitrite spike. Once water quality was sorted he swam about like a nutter :)

No the quality is perferct. he swims about just only in half the tank. He won't go past halfway he's swiming up and down right now!

Any difference in the water current between the two sides? Puffers in general are not strong swimmers and will often avoid areas where there is much current.

your mbu is used to being in your 300litre right?when did you put it in the new 6ft tank?

Umm I've never had a 300L I bought if from its 3 gal tank in the lfs. Now its in my 200 gal tank and pretty much 50% of people tell me it should be in a bigger tanl. You should have seen the tank I rescued it from.

And before anyone says "fish are usually in the lfs for a week" the other two mbu were in there for at least 6 months. one of them is still there burried in the sand all day.

It appears I made a litre vs gal mistake. I refuse to talk in gal again. I will stick to litre. Thnaks for spotting it :<
