I know this has been posted many times before but im pulling my hair out trying to get rid of snails in my tanks!!
I have a 90 lt tank and this morning before work i counted at least 40 snails on the glass alone.
I have tried putting lettuce or cucumber in the tank at night but the snails ignore it, tried feeding less just in case im overfeeding (which i dont think i am)
taking the bulk of the snails out by hand, have tried esha gastropex snail treatment and king british snail control with no effect. Havnt tried a clown loach but dont want to buy one because of the size of my tank. Is there any other thing i could try???
Many Thanks

There are smaller loaches that will eat snails. I think just about anything in the botia genus will. You can also just crunch every one you see with a fork - your fish will love the treat.

Do you know what kind of snail they are? The only ones I've had trouble getting under control to the point that they justified snail genocide were pond snails.

This is most interesting! I'll be giving this a try myself as I have a bit of a snail infestation in one of my tanks. I was going to buy a puffer fish to eat them all but this might be an easier solution :)

I have a similar problem although i havent tried the water treatments yet as im trying to stabilize my water. I took out at least 50 by hand last night, by the time i had done you couldnt spot a single snail in my tank.

When i came downstairs this morning theres another 15 appeared!!! Im just going to do it every night, keep taking the little punks out and hopefully eventually they start to decrease in numbers.

Failing that, a dwarf chain loach it is! lol

Thanks everyone. The snails i have are small round ones !!!! the biggest ones are about 4mm have just tried to find a picture of them but its a bit tricky as im at work at the moment

just had a look at the dwarf chain loach. That looks a fine fish. I have a couple of Khuli Loaches at the moment which dont seem to eat eat snails. the only problem I have is that im slightly over stocked so getting a group of 5 loachs will be tricky

Just use a lettuce leaf to remove them, when you turn the light off in the evening weigh down a good sized piece of lettuce in the tank, the following morning remove and dispose of it along with all the snails that will be attached to it, do this every night until they are all gone.

I have tried that but they never touch it!!!! i also tried cucumber

khuli loaches will not eat snails. try a zebra loach m8, they are the same size as a dwarf chained loach but have better colours. how big is the tank. if it is small 3-4 would be ok.

4 xray tetras
5 hengli rasboras
2 german rams
2 kuhli loaches
2 panda cories
2 platys
1 rescued dwarf rainbow fish

See if you can find some Clea Helena, Snail eating snails. I've got 4 in my tank and they are slowly eating all my snails :D
