Just spotted whitespot on our Neons, annoyingly after adding 5 Amano Shrimps and two Kribs.
OK Specs first...
150 litre
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
pH 7.8
Temp 25
Stock - 6 Pristella, 5 Neons, 2 Kribs, 5 Amano Shrimp
WELL Planted - Cabomba, Anubia [sp], Crypts, Vallis, a Sword and Java Fern.
2 substantial bogwoods.
Here's where we need to know we are on the right tracks. After reading up, we realise we cannot use ANY copper based treatments, as this would wipe out our pack of 'hooligan' shrimps. Soooo, we are looking at going for 'Waterlife - PROTOZIN'. Does anyone know if this would be safe enough?
What, essentially, we are looking for is a very effective treatment that will not stress fish. As kribs have only been introduced today with shrimps, and are probably still stressed from the move.
Next question, O2? We're aware that having to turn up the temp is going to reduce oxygen, thus having to go and buy an air pump and stone. But, have also read that air stones reduce CO2 and therefore are detrimental to plants. Will the short term use needed for treatment effect the plants? And come to that, will the treatment itself harm the plants?
Oh, so many things to try and balance... Any advice is gratefully received.
Many thanks
