Help.. This damn Barb

as mentioned, its still a barb type it still needs barb companions, if u cannot provide for this fish then take it back and dont think of buying any other 'shoaling' type fish.

oh thats a good idea, stick a plakat in with another male siamese fighting fish u do know its still a fighting fish dont u? and to house two males they will kill each other?

i think u need to rethink about comming into this hobby, to even think about houseing 2 male fighters is stupid in its extermes.

From your description above it sounds like a green tiger barb.
Check out the the link and look at the bottom picture. Although they are different in colour(lacking the black stripes of the tiger) they require the same care.

Perhaps the fish picked up it's aggressive nature from someone But seriouly man if your going to flush it down the toilet than just give it back to the pet store you'll be down 10 bucks but people usually don't go into fish to make a profit. Plus if it's their fish they you shouldn't need a receipt if you do an exchange or ask for store credit just look for the guy who sold you it and don't bring your angry into the store for all the person knew who sold it to you is that you already had a school at home (most tanks at LFS around my area have fish facts in a corner telling how big they will grow if they are schooling fish and what they are compatible with).

I just wanted to return my cheesy betta and get one of these plakats.. So show me the goods

And my tank has been running fine for a while.. i've just got one more concern.. i just bought something called (according to my receipt) a "PLECOSTOMUS COMMON" which some dude told me should eat the algae (i posted earlier in here with a problem having rust-colored spots in my tank which I was told was algae)

basically, this damn pleco thing is just stuck to the inside of my castle and he wont leave to go out and clean the tank.. he's just cowering in there with my betta who's terrified of the green barb.. DONT WORRY FOLKS, THE GREEN BARB CANT SEE THE FISH.. HE'S DOING JUST FINE.

through all my time on the forums, i have never met someone as disrepectful about fish as you are. Is this the way you act hwen your asking for advice from other people too in real life? if so, i feel very sorry for your friends if you have any.

Looks like you just treat your fish like toys, you want to get a plakat? will let me tell you that most fishstores don't carry them, they would usually have the vieltails and the occasional ct if your lucky. But i feel sorry for any plakat that goes through your hands. You don't buy bettas so they can "beat the crap out of the tiget barb' and that looks exactly like what your tryign to do.

I suggest you give your tiger barb away back to the petstore if he's bugging you that much, and think hard about eveyr fish that you want to get becuase that common pleco that you got will grow up to a foot and more. Have fun dealing with something that size in the future.

While plecos do eat algae, they're not your slave and machine and wont' suck off every speck of algae off your tank, it's your responsibily to clean them, and they do need to be fed algae discs and other food once in a while to stay healthy.

Oh, and a side note, i dont' like the way your calling your fish, calling the pleco a pleco would be fine, i dont' see why you have to call it "this damn pleco thing". They do just sit there and suck on the side of things, its how they are, if you dont' like their behavoir, dont' buy it. Whats so difficult?

The people in this forum were and have been a great help so far, and they told me to buy something called an Otto to eat the algae.. Well, there were no "ottos" there, so dude told me to buy one of these for eating the algae..

Frustrated? i believe you've "frustrated" a lot of people too, all i did was try to give you advice and tell you that PLECOS GROW UP TO A FOOT LONG. Are you ready to have a foot long thing in yoru tank? do you have like a70G for him to swim in? if not, i suggest you go get an oto instead.

and yes, otos are good. in fact i have 3 of them in my 25G and they are excellent algae eaters. If your lfs dont' carry it, go find someone else that does. Order it online if you want to.
