Help! Snail Hurt, Badly!

I was cleaning my tank when i noticed my apple snail was sucking the on off switch on my filter. When i tried taking it off what looked like the mouth ripped off the snail itself and now its not moving at all, does this mean its dead? its trapdoor is still tightly shut so will its mouth regenerate?? im afraid ive killed my snail!!!

My apple snail sometimes goes unactive for a few days at a time. yours might just be retreating for a while to heal. test your ammonia daily. if there is unexplained ammonia, maybe your snail is dead and is beginning to dacay. dont necessarily worry that he's not active right now. just keep an eye on water stats! im sorry to hear of his injury, but many of us have been in a similar situation.
