Also is that a good price??

This is the rock, it is still in his tank, does it look good?

Well its rocky! Lol!..

Some nice pieces there! Loads of lovely coraline algae (the purple stuff lol!)

Api are good kits. I to looked at going for the api but in the end I bought the separate salifert test kits as they are highly recommended by most on here.

I like the purple :) just didn't know if you can tell healthy and non healthy rock haha!

What about the tropica marine test kits?

I find salifert to be the best test kits but that's just my opinion.

Anyone know what fish that is in that photo? Guessing a wrasse of some sort?? Looks cool!!

Salifert and api seem to be the best kits. Tropic Marin are average and expensive imo.

Tropic marin are cheaper than salifert! :)

It depends where you shop tbh. I think that for a couple of quid more, I'd rather have a well respected test kit and not imo an average one.

£50 for a TM kit, yet I paid £65 for pretty much the entire salifert test kit range [I Have 9 different test kits]

TM kits only have around 5-6 If I remember correctly.

If you shop around you will find that you could buy the same salifert testkits as the TM master test kit for only a tiny bit more if not the same.

Sorry If I'm coming across as a bit arrogent as I'm not trying to be, and obviously its entirely up to you what kit you go for.
At the end of the day lfs would'nt use TM kits for their own testing If they were'nt any good, and I know a few that do use.

Right i'm off before I get picked on! lol!

Haha I won't pick on you ...

I just need to get a kit with the tests that I need. Stupid Q but can I use the same ammonia nitrite and nitrate kit I have for freshwater for marine! No shouting please :)

I don't think you can to be honest on most of the tests. I know some of the tests on some kits cater for both salt and freshwater.
I think nitrate and PH are ones that can be used but dont quote me on that.

It should say on the instructions that come with the kit on weather its compatible for both.

Also I think API test kits are cheaper than TM kits. There's loads of them for sale on fleebay!

API do two types of kit. 1 for salt water [FOWLR] and one for reef setups. [test kits for phos, mag, cal, str etc]

Best to get the one that contains the amm, trite and trate obviously.
You can also buy them individually so you can upgrade the kit to do both. If you know what i mean!

My salifert test kit comprises of amm, trite, trate, PH, KH/alk, Phos, cal, mag.

But I only really use trate, PH, KH and phos mainly!
