Those bacteria-in-a-bottle products never really work.

Do a 50% Water change (make sure to declor it)

Have you got yourself a test kit?

Api Liquid Master Test Kit is the best

Pretty much any LIQUID test kit. You need to be able to test Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and PH.

Look in the pinned topics for 'Fishless Cycling' and decide if you want to cycle your tank fishless, or with fish.

Fishless = Kinda boring with no fish, but not much work
Fish= LOTS of water changes, some deaths most likley, but get fish from very start.

i have fish there already will i get rid of them or keep them

If you keep the fish in, realize that they will be in extreme discomfort and toxic water for the next several weeks, as the water will be full of ammonia then nitrites. If they manage to survive, the toxic water will have lasting effects on your fish and they may not live full lives.

If you take them back or let someone with a mature tank babysit for you, you can do a fishless cycle. Like someone mentioned you have to go a couple weeks with no fish, but when your cycle is done you can put your fish into a nice safe healthy home and they wont suffer. :good:  :hyper:

Green Algae bloom is a sign of too much light change the water daily 20 - 25% till the water clears up reduce the amount of light.
If you plan to raise brine shrimp this green water is perfect for them.
Call me naughty but I don't test the water that often because I change it every day this helps to battle the ammonia overload whilst you are waiting for the good bacteria growth.
