Well I got into this fish keeping about 3 months ago, after seeing my boyfriends tank and taking a few months to learn what was need to be done to look after one (had thought about it for about 2 years this was just the final push to do it), so I went out and got a Rekord 60, nice little tank really liked had great fun setting it up, selecting fish :D, watch them and seeing the Platys have babies  .

Then I got a 5 UK gallon tank as a hospital/fry tank.

The problem I have now is my Rekord 60 is fully stocked and I cant do anything with it, I haven’t even got the fish I wanted to have in there in the beginning as I have worked out capacity etc :( , and I am now wishing that I had got a bigger tank to start off with, keep finding myself looking at bigger tanks on the internet, in shops and in the free papers :*) .

I know what’s coming, it will be a bigger tank by after Christmas, thinking of the Fluval Duo Deep 1000, does anybody know what they are like? see i cant even write this topic without starting to ask questions about the tank :*)

Also is this behaviour that I am exhibiting normal, or have I just got a bad case of MTS :hey: :D :hey:

Help me if you can

Claire

So know what you mean Matthew, my boyfriend is being very sweet about it but i can see the "how am i going to stop this" in the eyes  , best bit for me is we both live in studio flats but as we spend more time at his all the tanks are there, and his is a 4ft 216l tank, so think i might be pushing my luck, though he has said if i can find room for it i can have it . any ideas on how to re-model a studio flat :hyper:

we have same problem in our house. MTS is that bad in here we getting a new suite so i can fit another tank in here :hyper: :hyper: . suite is ordered should be here in 2 weeks & new 240litre tank is order that will be here soon. so can't wait. even now still looking at other tanks on ebay lol.
even the kids want tanks in their bedrooms :hey: :hyper:

ClaireN If in dout knock walls out and have the tank in there, Fire-place works well too!! The tank I've seen is a 5'x20"x2' and will fit snug on my first landing (i got two) Got too watch out for that weight!!!

Big Tank means Big house! or no spare room!
Found a thed on here where a guy had built a extion on to is house and called it the fish room or tank house I think is was. Now that is MTS baaaaaaaaaaaaaad!!!!!

any ideas on how to re-model a studio flat :hyper:

Does it have a balcony? Fill it up!! :hyper: Create a room divider using tanks. Put the small tank on top of the cistern :) Put a large wall rack on the wall over your settee and put a long tank. Any bay windows? Convert them to hold tanks !!! Buy a cylindrical tank and use it as a centre table..... and many more crazy ideas :)

Enjoy the MTS

What are the dimensions on that 170 gal? My daughter has a friend who has offered us a 180 gal (FREE FREE FREE) I am taking it, even if I don't have a place for it yet. I do have an unfinished basement......

I also have MTS. Never satisfied, always looking for the next great deal. I LOVE to buy used and get box fuls of "stuff". I need to update my sig.... because I just bought a 3rd 55, and it came with a 20 tall.

Unfortunately, there is no known cure for MTS. Even when you don't have any more room to put a tank or time to keep them all up, you will still want another bigger and better one. The best therapy is to stay out of LFSs and stay off eBay and Aquabid. If you find that you can't do that then buy a bigger house and get a second job.

ooh Aquabid, haven't been on that one yet, will have to have a look tonight :D

Can see us having to move by this time next year, thought i would get bitten by this bug but didn't know how quickly, dont want to get rid of my 12gallon when i get a new one thought i could put female betta's in it but ive been told enough is enough :( think i will have to work on him a little more :D

Kat & James - your tank sounds fantastic would love to have a tank like that, would also love to see some pics when you get it up and running after the move. Is the move far off now, must be hard knowing you have this fantastic tank but cant set it up yet, it would be a nightmare for me but i guess im impatient about that sort of thing :fun:
