Help My Gourmai

Keep an eye on the body and eyes for blackness.

I wouldn't worry to much if it's disappeared now.
Black patches can be ammonia, burns that are healing, fighting, digging marks, cancer, fish tb.

Black Patches

Symptoms:

Black patches, smudges, smears, spots or markings that suddenly appear and are not natural colorings.

Cause:

These markings are the result of skin cell damage. Black markings often appear in areas where the skin has been damaged by ammonia burns, bacterial infections, parasitic infestations, and injuries. These markings are often seen on fish just after a new tank has completed cycling, due to the high ammonia levels. These marks are also common in African Cichlids, especially around the mouth. These are scabs that have come from digging in the gravel or from fighting.

Treatment:

No treatment is necessary. Much like scabs, the blackened areas are a sign that the healing process has already begun. Keep water in top condition and the areas will gradually fade in less than a couple of weeks.

Ok here is her video for today, 3rd dose 3rd round of antibiotics

Bless her.
You done everything possible.
I would add her back to the main tank matching ph and temp, and let her live her days out.
If she goes downhill get back to the board.

She so adorable bless her.

Have you ever used an internal wormer on her.

Thanks, she only has one more dose tomorrow to finish up this round of antibiotics so I figured I would just finish it up, so that would mean that she would go back to the main tank on Wednesday (24 hours after last dose). I have never tried a wormer on her, not even sure I have ever seen any in the stores. Do you have some US brand names I can see if I can find any.

You can buy medicated food internal wormers by junge.
Get you a link to the medicated food.

Internal Parasite Guard, Pipzine, Disco-Worm, Trichlorfon or Fluke-Tabs

ok great, I'll get some and try it when the antibiotics are done and maybe that will do the trick, if that is not it, then back to the main tank she goes.

If that dosn't do anything you have tryed everything then.
Fish can wobble and lean to oneside when swimming with internal parasites.

Ok so today is the last dose of tetracycline. Also I started her on the Jungle parasite medicated fish food, and I think that might be the trick. She seems to be swimming a little more stable today. Anyway I also bought Parasite Clear also by Jungle so I figured that tomorrow when the anitbiotics are clear of the tank I would do a day or two with the Parasite Clear tabs along with the medicated food, I mean she is already in isolation, I figured I should try everything before I just give up and put her back in the main tank. Do you agree?

Also, I noticed that her poop is a reddish tinge today, kind of a salmon colour. I think it mite be the medicated food, but the pellets are a light brown. Do you know if the Anti-Parasiste food from Jungle could cause this?

Thanks

A reddish colour can indicate parasites.
I've never used jungle internal parasite medicated food, so couldn't say if it's the food causing the red poo.
Just make sure sure it's not blood.

I think if the fish is still eating well, I would just stick to the medicated food.
Don't want to overdose the fish.

Does it say in the instructions if you can use both meds at the same time.

The poo doesn't look bloody, it is formed and solid, no mucus or anything, just that pinky reddish colour, and it wasn't like that until I started feeding this food, so not really sure.

The instructions say I can use the food with the antibiotics, but nothing about using the tabs with the antibiotics. But it does say you can use the parasite food and the tabs togethor when treating for parasites. But I think I might call them and double check.

Just got off the phone with jungle and they say both the food and the parasite clear tabs are safe to use togethor and also safe to use with the tetracycline. However, I still think I should wait and clear the antibiotics before adding the parasite clear tabs. Your thoughts? (sorry but I trust your judgement much more than mine ... you are a lot more experienced them me :good: )

Ok.
I would think it was the medicated food then causing the different colour poo.

It's fine then if you can use both parasite meds together. Just wanted to check.

Let me know how she get on, bless her.

Some internal parasite meds can have anitbiotics in them anyway. Example metro.
Jungle dosn't.
Carry on feeding the medicated food till the antibiotics are out of the tank.
Then maybe add the jungle clear tabs.

Thanks wilder, you have been so helpful, I don't think I could get through this with out you.

I know what's it like to have a sick fish. Most of them time you feel so helpless.
Hope she gets better.
Good Luck.

Well tonight I went to go check in on her, and was quite shocked to see she had a turn for the worse. I am starting to think that perhaps it is fish TB, but really not sure what it could be. Anyway, I went to feed her the evening meal and she was about the same as she had been. But I went to check on her before I went to sleep and found her her on the bottom of the tank, still up right, but really just staying in one spot, not really swimming at all. Her colour has darkened significantly from the pearl brown to a very dark brown, not quite black but pretty close to it. Also it seems she has lost weight, I don't see how a fish could loose noticeable weight in a matter of hours, or perhaps I was just too hopeful to see it before. Also she seems to be having difficulty getting to the surface for air, which was not a problem until now. When she does swim it is very jerky. I don't have any clove oil at home, and it is too late to go buy some (all the stores are closed) and I just can't, CAN'T, take her out and cut her head off. That might be selfish of me but I just can't do it. I have lowered her water level to make it easier for her to get to the surface. We will see what tomorrow brings, but if she is still alive in the morning I will be surprised.

Thank you again Wilder for all your help and support, it has been greatly appreciated.
