I'm after some advice from the more technical minded please. My aim is to connect the two external filters i have running on my 6x2x2 river tank into one intake & one output via manifolds built into the hood of the tank, at opposite ends so the filter output pushes debri towards the filter intake (i do realise input & output need to be separate).
I'm just exploring pros & cons of different ideas at the mo, so more questions will follow, first of all i would like to know could i use the plastic push fit fittings featured on this site.
Push Fit Fittings

Any advice tips will be greatly appreciated appreciated.

sounds like a good idea! though both filters would have to be the same, if one were more powerful than the other, the pressure imbalance may give you problems, you would really need to keep on top of the cleaning too.

The pipe fittings that you have mentioned would be fine. Only thing to consider is the internal diameter, the larger you can get the better. It will stop any "gunge" clogging the pipes and lowering the flowrate to your externals.

Another method would be to lay pipes under the substrate and to connect powerheads to the top end of your tank and then the input of these heads would be connected onto the under-substrate pipes to the far end of the tank, with braod caps on to ensure no fish find there way into them.

This would give you a constantly flowing "river" and you could perform the filtration at one end of the tank, keeping everything closer together and visually freeing as much space as possible in your tank. A few good chunks of bogwood and rocks always hide things we do not find to aesthetic.

Dont know if you wanted a long post or this much info but i have found this setup to very effective when breeding my plecs.

Just to explain my description here is one awful paint drawing.
