I have a new 54 gal corner bowfront and I need hardware....I have to go with a canister because a hanging filter will not fit in space I am putting it.

I have been looking at the Ehiem Canister Plus Model # 2213......but I have no idea what to order to go with it......ie.. hoses, media and anything else I don't know about......the catalog is not real clear on what you need.....and I want to order everything I need at the same time....does anyone have any input here?

It does say...."these filters do not come with filter media"

I don't even know what type of filter media I need.......
I really have to get this thing set up soon......my baby angels need the room!

I do want something that is low maintaince and very easy to use...I don't know ANYTHING about canister filters!! and don't have a lot of time to spend messing w/ hardware

I have a couple hundred to spend on all the hardware.....someone please help me spend my $$$ wisely!!

This is going to be my show tank and I want to get good hardware...can't afford the BEST.....but I can do good!!

also which heater is the best....Trionic?......Rena?.....Ebo-Jagers?

All I need is Filteration and heat right?.......already have lighting.

I will be placing my order with big als online

Thanks In Advance,

Mama, if you want the best, look at this here.

Mine has been working perfectly for four years now.

I did not see them at Big Als though. He must need to get bigger.. :D

And since you are in TX, a single 250w heater should do it. unless you want to play it safe and get a pair of 150w heaters

Thanks for the reply Great Lakes.....as a matter of fact theydo have this one at BIg als online for 89.99.

I don't think it will work for me though....it does hang on the side...... right?

I have no space for that, since it is a corner bowfront....and it is a built in shelf......can't be moved.

I am looking at about a 250-300W heater, and canister filter....but I need specifics here....what brand is the best....easiest to use.....and what do I need to go with the filter.....I am totally clueless.....please I need more input here!!!

I am just waiting for someone to walk me through this so I can place my order, I have 75 baby angels that need a new home before they start dying off
.....the people on the phone know nothing about the products when I call.

I cant promise the price is right or not... but I have got stuff from these folks. I had a filter come with a broken piece they had great customer service and got the new one before the old one had even got back to them.

wow....so this is everything I need to get it going???

yes....the 54 gal is going to be a temp. growout tank.......I have a buyer waiting as soon as they are dime sized.

thanks for the info

Yep, assuming the guts are similar to the wet dry model which I have and love
It will come with those bio white cylinder thingys. 3 trays which are basically little baskets that slide in and out ( I just shake them up in a bucket of ro water n stir with my hand... course the thing runs so well that I barly have to clean it at all..)

One addition ... (to any filter really)
I would either wrap a filter pad on the intake or get their fancy inlet... which is very nice as well and worth the money but thats up to you :) .. the more prefiltering you do to any system the less cleaning of the can you will have to do... we want those bacteria to be changing elements not getting cloged in fish logs.

well Thanks for the input and help.....but I have gone with the Hagen Fluval
Model # 304.....reason being.......it comes with everything you need to get it going!
I also went with the trionic heater..........just placed my order...hope to have pictures up soon of the installation!

Thanks all! :kana:

Finally got my stuff in the mail yesterday :kana:  :kana:

Now it is time to play the Aquarium shuffle!!

I am having to move 5 tanks around, plus set up the new 54 corner :flex:

But at least I won't have a tank @ every outlet in my BR.

Was at Home Depot the other day, and I saw a decorative type shelf on sale
for I think $29. It has 4 adjustable shelves....all same size, and it kinda reminded be of one of those metal bakers racks....anyway, I was shocked when I read the fine print on the box, it said that each shelf will hold up to 350lbs :flex:
It is large enough to put a 29 gal on the bottom shelf, and room for 2 more shelves to put my 2-10's and my 15......all in one spot, hubby already fixed me another outlet on that wall too..........

I guess I better get to bed, movin day tomorrow!!

hummm.....seems like I said that yesterday!
never enough time in a day!
