Well just finished doing a WC on my tank and I find something very small swimming around right next to the glass. Now I think it's a baby fish. Only fish present are pearl danios. Can't say I've seen any eggs but as I have major green water at the moment that's not a suprise. Now I have a spare tank with heater and a fluval 1 filter. Will they be ok in there with that filter? Anything I could do as a temperary thing, can't get out till tomrow to get any supplies. Only got a couple of fish but would like to look after them. Any help appriciated.

Well it's still alive, only managed to catch one in the end. I just left it in the net and managed to balance it in the tank overnight. Think I might try get a breeding net later and pop it in there but I have no idea what to feed it. Anyone got suggestions? I have nothing to bring up this fry but really wana give it a go. Please help me

Thanx
Dani

Ok cool, that's easy enough. But what about a filter of some sort to put in my spare tank for him? Would rather put him in the spare tank but I don;t want to have to spend loads of money on just one little fish unless I really have to.

Dani

It will probably be better in a breeding net for the time being. Once it's big enough, you can put it back in the tank with the others.

i wouldnt put it in another tank that has different water conditions whilst its so small, i feel it has more of a chance with a breeding net, in the tank with the adults.

congrats on the baby, i agree a breeder net would be best, i don't normally recommend them but with there being 1 should be fine. what colour is it? and do you have other fish other than the danios?

Congrats

It's bout 2-3mm long and looks black at the moment. Only pearl danios at the moment. Have a big green water problem s don;t really want to get more fish till i've sorted that out. The water conditions in my spare tank are practically the same. Just off to hope that the local pet shop has fry food and a breeder net or I'm gona have to find a way to go elsewhere and when I don't drive that's not easy.

Thanx
Dani

how long have you had the danio's, i have never had danios or danio fry so can't really advice you on that, im sure the danio experts will be along soon

congrats on your fry, hope your lfs has what you need and you dont have to go trekking too far - i know what its like trying to get around with kids and not driving

xXx

I've had them about 6 and a half weeks now. It wasn;t a fish shop I went to unfortunalty just a pet shop and no they didn;t have anything of use to me. Nearest lfs is a 45 min walk away and not really up for that now. Hopefully I'll be able to blag a lift later.

Well I haven't managed to get a breeding net yet or food but the one I caught the other day seems fine at the mo. And I've found and caught another two!! I'm so excited. Anytips on catching fry? I used a pipette in the end as they seem to stay very close to the glass and using a net is impossible. Should definalty be able to get some supplies over the weekend. Just thought I'd come and share the two new ones :)

Just found another 2 which takes my total to 5. Starting to think I might have to set up a seperate tank for them as I keep finding more. So how would I go about setting up a fry tank? Should be going to the lfs over the weekend sometime so I can get bits for them so any help would be appriciated.

Thanx Dani

congrats on finding yet more, i use a small shot sized glass wait for them to come near the surface then place the glass in and the suction pulls them into the glass, is a lot easier than a net and to get them out again. as for what to get, plants a few hiding wholes although there will be no threats they don't know that and it will help them feel secure :good:
