my diy co2 leaked and my water is realy realy realy cloudy. will carbon take care of theis or make it worse? any answers appreciated.

By DiY CO2 leaked, I assume you mean your yeast reactor overflowed into your tank. Add an airstone, do a water change (50% minimum). For the next 3-5 days do daily 50% water changes. Carbon will help, but not excessively so.

Now build a check valve. Tape a 591 ml pop bottle to the side of your fermentation vessel. Put 2 holes in the top that will be secure when air line routed through them (the same as your CO2 vessel). Run the supply from the fermentation vessel throught the top of the check vessel and down to about an inch from the bottom. May require a clip to keep it down there. Run you line to the tank into the other hole about 1.5 inches into the vessel. If the muck goes in the small bottle the line to the tank will be above the mess. If you want to be real safe, use a larger check vessel.

Give some thought to the check valve. It is just comfort. You don't want a yeast infection in your tank.

This'll help...

I used a stubby lucazade bottle as it has a larger top to work with.

Its labled bubble counter as I half filled it to allow me to count the bubbles as well as forming a place for overflow ;)
