My 300 watt heater isn't quite powerful enough for my tank.... Was wondering would 2x 200 watt heaters be ok at either side of my tank rather than one 400 watt??

Two would probably be more efficient. If you need 400w to heat your tank then 2x200 would provide the same level of heat as 1x400.
