is a heater for 5 gallon the smallest heater you can buy. Will it work out well in a 3 gallon hex tank. Need one for my son's betta i bought him for christmas. My bettas are in the kitchen and the light on the 10 gallon keeps the water warm enough for them. But my son's room is quite cool in the winter so i need a heater for it. Right now the betta is in the tank hidden in my closet until christmas eve  . My dog is wondering what it is in the closet

I've got 25watt heaters in my 3 gallon tanks. I haven't had any problems with them.

You should have waited to get the betta till x-mass eve that way it wouldn't have to live in a closet. :p

OMG if betta in closet where do you put the kids when you want them out the way ??

Your betta aint no harry potter you know

he will be coming out of the closet christmas eve. That is funny, does he want another male.

Depending on the tank shape you could also try the Hydor mini heater which is ideal for the small tanks and will take the temp up to a reasonable level, no temp control but one good thing about this is that it is not made of glass and does shatter if you forget to turn it off when water changing.

Those jr. heaters they sell at walmart keep a 3 gallon tank at a steady 80 degrees here in my office..and it's cold in here! Stinking fish are warmer then I am!
