Heater Emergency

I am going to be redoing my 90 gal tank in a few days, once my ro filter arrives, but i was wondering can i use a heater that is drastically overpowered for a given tank size for a few days in a pinch

I am moving my livestock over to a 10 gallon holding tank, and i was wondering if one of my 250 watt heaters can be used. I felt it might be a good idea to ask first, in case it might result in deep-fried fish

I cant see it being a problem realy as long as the thermostat works ok and the temperature is set right. I would keep a constant circulation around the heater to avoid the water around it heating up too quick.
