He Has Dropped A Bombshell

id do a reef like mine a 180litre one doesnt have to cost an arm and a leg and you can decide without too much investment whether its what you want. First time I did it I spent a fortune and second time round was much cheaper as I knew not to buy from the shops and instead buy from fellow reeferes

I'll speak to him again. Am happy to replace the 4ft tank with a smaller one (another Rio sounds good), but I think it isn't only the cost, but also the general maintenance with water changes and getting it all right. I tried telling him that we could work it out, but he is a bit of a scared and stubborn man...

Guess what! He has just seen a tiny nano (about 50l max) at the LFS and he is willing to give it a go with a small one :hyper: I know I will have to be 100% on top of water changes and maintenance, but at least he wants to try it. Only a few corals, CUC and maybe a couple of fish for now, but that's a start. And maybe next year I can convince him to go bigger. As we all know, bigger is better ;)

love the cheeky pun :p and so happy you can make a start on your marine journey i know how enthusiastic you are :) im sure when u get it going the urge to go bigger will happen its inevitable

He he he ;)

Well the plan is now to start small, he will then realize how easy it is, the coral will start growing so I won't give him a choice but to upgrade. Ah, I'm so proud of myself, got the man wrapped around my finger :shifty:

Just a quick question - Is a skimmer necessary for a nano or should I just go for filling it with live rock to the brim and doing weekly or twice a week water changes?

Im getting my mrs a lil 30litre tank for our new house so I know all about the wrapped around the finger thing :p

It's always good to have a skimmer tbh I wouldn't do without mine, may help keep things stable in your lil tank too :) how much live rock did you want to add?

You know you can't resist us ladies :p

Don't know what size yet, will have a look around. Am thinking of finding a tank similar to my betta sorority, it's 80l. Once I have a tank I'll think about live rock. But again, won't start until September, need to finish the Rios first and then with my new job I can start the marine venture.
