Just wondered if anyone who owns or has owned a Fluval FX5 has experienced the following issue...
I woke up this morning to a constant banging sound coming from the fish tank. On closes inspection, it is actually the out take hose that seems to be 'pulsing' and banging again the wall of the room. My filter seems to be constantly turning itself on/off which has led to the noise. Every 20 mins or so it cuts out and then starts up again 2 mins later, which it should only do once every 24 hours.
There's no kinks in the hosing, and I've cleaned the filter and impeller and ensured that no air is trapped inside the hoses, but it doesn't seem to have worked.
Not sure what else to do now. I've turned it off for the time been to avoid any further damage. It's a 500l tank and 'was' running 2x FX5's so should I transfer the media from the faulty filter into the other one until I fix it?
I've contacted the LFS that I purchased it from and they told me they won't be able to do anything in terms of replacing or exchanging until Tuesday as they don't have any in stock. they also mentioned that the FX5 has been replaced with a new FX6 apparently, so it will be Tuesday/Wednesday before I will have a replacement at the earliest. I'm hoping that 1 FX5 will see me through until i sort it out if I do a water change every couple of days.
Anyone experienced this type of issue?
Thanks
Adam
