Are you sure its not Serpae Tetra
and is your name ment to be Danio

Were they little red tetras, then it sounds like the Serpae tetra. I've only seen them being stocked quite recently as well (although I dont think there that new), and i agree that they look great.

When I brought a few for my tank I was told that they are quite the fin nippers, but they have been in the tank for about 1 month now and had no problems with them doing this and I have a few fish with larger fins.

i cant belive it i splelt my name wrong accident lol rolf .
do yours have a little black mark on there side

Yup, black mark on the side and the fins are black

My serpaes don't even bother any fish fish and I've kept them with Angelfish!

bigc thank you for comfirming the fish breed

Just warning, i've wanted these fish before but I heard lots of accounts of killing other fish. Also in their tank (they were longfins) their fins were pretty shredded, so they were probably aggressive.

I've got a few Serpaes in my 75 gal with an Angel, Golden and Tiger Barbs and some other small Tetra's. Even a few Cichlids. They're not at all aggressive in my tank :dunno: Mine are a bright red, too. Pretty little fish.
