it's completely strange looking to me what do other ppl think

i would imagine using something like this if i ever went into breeding as the plants would help to make the fish feel at home and give them hiding places ect but dead easy to clean as no substrate....

I mean it just seems so unatural to me, maybe i am a planted tank snob.........I donno

Yeah, looks like very simple to maintain, but too uniform to be natural. I usually just see barebottom tanks at cheap LFS places and Walmart.

Looks weird to me  not seen one like that before, I like to see sand/gravel on the bottom and real plants although may I add all my plants are fake

I don't use substrate in quite a few of my tanks, though most are fry tanks, they are much easier to clean, I use plants that can be tied to wood/stones or moss balls and floating plants.

Tanks are hardly ever natural though, when do you see a tiny body of water setup like our tanks?

It's common for breeders to keep bare tanks with plants in pots. Substrate holds more debris than you would think. An environment like that pictured is much cleaner, something that is needed for discus. If that is a permanent setup, it probably is overstocked, though a stocking rate like that is commonly used when trying for a pair.

Most show tanks are nowhere near a natural environment, as most bodies of water aren't crystal clear.

This is so interesting, I was thinking how someone could do this just TODAY!

I was thinking using rockwool that was hiden with pots or decorations.

Ok not "NATURAL" but more natural looking. I think it is what MOST planted tank owners try for at least that seems to be true for a lot of ppl I have talked to about planted tanks
