I think I have a problem with it and I would like to know about other people experience.

Thanx

I have had an entire tank wiped out by our old friend Cryptocaryon irritans. But my Pinktailed Trigger and all of my freshwater fish that ever had ich just got over it in time. :dunno:

Regular feedings with Spirulina and garlic will prevent ich 99% of the time. Spirulina in particular is a miracle food; believe me, I once took Spirulina once a day (when I remembered to take it) because I realized it helped the fish. I have gotten sick but a single time since I started taking it - I have not taken it for over twelve months - and I have resisted at least five colds and flus that were going around during this time. That is my proof that Spirulina is the healthiest food that can be fed to fish; it sure as hell worked for me! .

However, the effectiveness of garlic has yet to be proved. It is a mere myth that stemmed from a scientist's findings on dogs; which were that garlic helped prevent heartworms.

i had to go to the doctors to get mine sorted

(maybe try refraising the title ;))

i have gotten it a few times. quickcure or ick away is your best chance usually. use it on your fish, put them in containers with water and put the right dosage in there water and let them be in it a lil bit

then redo your water.

well, unless your tank has no invertabrates like snails or small shrimp, then you can just put it in the tank. but if you have snails then they will die from the treatment. hope that helps.

PS: just lost 2 female guppies from white fungus! :-(

whats Spirulina?

Alage, you can usually buy it in flake form for your fish.

As for curing ich, I swear by garlic. Worked for me, I simply soaked whatever food the fish here getting in 'Garlic Guard' for an hour before feeding for 6 weeks. Worked a treat, however I'm not sure how effective it would be with severe cases.

I find the minced stuff in a jar to be the easiest to use smile.gif

Make sure what your use is just garlic though. You don't want any nasty ingredients getting into your tank! It if was up to me personally I'd use fresh garlic and prepare it myself just to be safe.

alright well my fish did die, but my Tang recovered pretty nicely. I guess from what I am reading a garlic diet seems to cure it...interresting :)

I have never had whitespot in a fresh water tank. But my marine tank had a outbreak last year, the tang was covered. I used a three pronged approach, treating with MYXAZIN then when the treatment had stopped i introduced 2 more cleaner shrimp and added a UV to the system.
Zero losses a right result :good:
