Hey
I have a tropical freshwater tank that was an upgrade from my first tank. I have recently been keeping puffers, Green Spotteds, Dwarf Puffers and Figure 8s. I think these fish are great! Love their personalities, how they recognise you and snarl at people they havent seen before, feeding them unusual foods lie snails, cockle etc.
At my LFS they have some 4 inch Green Spotted puffers in...theyre so nice! I am thinking of getting rid of my freshwater fish in order to get this fish.
The only thing is ill have to get rid of fish that i have struggled to aquire in the past. NO offense, i think certain FW fish are great but im getting bored of comunity fish like loaches, tetras and guppies.
My dad wont let me as he has said,"Whats the point, ive struggled through white spot and other diseases and ive got it looking really nice...maybe in a years time".
I like keeping these unusual fish. I like fish with a challenge, noit fish that are so simple all you have to d each week is add de-chlorinated water. I have setup a marine tank and love dealing with salts and having to be extra careful with water conditons, like i do wiht my F8.
have you ever got rid of all the inhabitants in your tank to try something new? Have you got rid of your goldfish to get cichlids?

im currently trying to break down my oddball to make it into a tanganyika

just got sick of all the hiding fish, malawi mbuna really opened my eyes to what a fish tank can be! :good:

I've a 20g that was once a terrarium, then a paludarium, then a brackish aquarium, then a freshwater "false reef" tank, then a heavily planted tank and now going into a hillstream tank. It's a tendency of mine, to keep changing things.

I think that as long as your lfs is good, or you find a good home- you shouldn't feel guilty at all. The fish (*especially loaches, tetras and guppies) don't really care about the hand that feeds them, as long as a hand is there at all. IMO

With that said, my frontosa were rather jumpy and weird, although beautiful. I cleaned house though, despite my fondness, in order to convert my tank to a marine set up. It was a tough call but...no regrets. My lfs kept my fronts in a huge display tank anyway so I still get to see them *shrug*

* no offense, but lets be real here, these fish want nothing to do with you personally. I prefer fish with lifespans of 10+ years, these sorts of fish DO recognize faces and prefer some humans over others but I believe that even they would adjust to new people rather quickly. And yes, I know loaches can live quite awhile but show me a loach that greets you when you walk in the room and I will eat my words. :hey:
