Have I Been Stupid....

I started adding 5ppm of ammonia.... Should i STILL be adding this... or should it only be 2.3-3 ppm now.... if so a 16 hour cycle should drop to well under 12 hours....

I re-read some sites and realised there should be a drop in how much ammonia and some say 1/2 the amount some say 3-4ppm.

(I Guess if i kept going it would of made it at 5ppm but would of taken AGES.... )

Or am i right to keep putting in 5ppm.....

I would advise sticking with 5ppm. The only difference between 5ppm and say 3ppm is the amount of bacteria which will culture the filter (more bacteria are needed for more waste). If you cut down now, you would have been as well starting with the lower amount.

Stick with 5ppm and at least then you should in theory be able to fully stock your tank in one go after cycling. 3ppm might not culture enough bacteria to cope with a tank full of fish. Hope this helps.
