Hatching/bredding Fish

Its not relaxing watching your fish trapped in some small box lol
But i'm only doing it for the safety of the fry as this is my 1st time breeding as you prob can tell, others I would put them in a different tank If I had one.
I know once I see the fry I will be extremely happy! cos then I can say I am a good fish keeper and also can prove to my mum that they were pregnaunt cos shes saying take em out I dont think there ready. Just so you know I'm only doing this cos of the members who have replied to this have told me otherswise I wouldn't have bothered getting the traps etc.
Man was it a paint in the ass our what lol getting those traps, i'm afraid that was the only biggest size they had
But I'm not gonna take them out cos I know they are pretty fat and If I do take them out and find that they did lay the fry I would curse myself lol

i personally would only have one female in the breeder, so maybe keep on in the breeder then add extra plants and hiding places in the main tank incase the other one pops, females need the space to get in the right possition for a safe birth and half the breeder doesn't provide enough space, i would have one in the breeder without the bottom this allows more space for mum and fry always seem to get back though it anyway. good luck with them

OMG!! they gave birth to 5 little fry!!!!

their's probably tiny stuff in your tank they can eat already but they need more. a first food called liquifry number 2 is good and fed 4 times a day for a week and then you can add very finely ground down broken up powdered flakes

Oh right, I gave them very fine crushed up flake food

But I thought they gave birth to about 50-100 fry?
I only got 5 but one of them got eaten by the mother so I got 4

if its a first birth then there will be fewer, and if the fry are big and healthy there will be fewer. congrats on the new arrivals

yeah thanks for that, she gave birth to more so in total I have 20 or 21. 1 was deformed like a round ball.

What do you use to transfer your fry into a safe place?

And what do you feed your fry and for how many times a day?

i use a small container or a small shot type glass, wait for them to come to the surface then the pressure of the water sucks them in. feed them 3/4 times a day for the first few weeks
