Shine a flashlight down on him. If you see gold dusting, it's velvet. With behavior like that, it's very possible it could be velvet.

OR... is it possibe that you could have swung his ph with a water change or anything?

Hopefully nothing is wrong.

If it helps, my Walmart betta was the same.

Worst part, I walked through the automatic doors with him  When I put him in his tank, I swore he wasn't going to make it. He was flipping out, I really thought I messed him up :/

But after about a week he really improved, and now he is the betta I have had the longest since my Harold died. He is probably getting up there in age too, I imagine at least 2 years old, since Walmart bettas seem to be old usually to begin with.

Good luck

Thanks.........last night I moved his tank back up to my room, so I could keep an eye on him while I was working at my desk......He seems better now, so I'm curiose as to what bothered him on the computer desk. I dont think it was a vibration, because I didn't see any ripples on the top of the water in his tank...

ETHOS!
I LOOOOOVE your avatar.

That is just the coolest thing i've seen in a long time. :)

Do you have an airpump near him? One of my fish has an airpump in his tank - and when it slides over off the little cushion i have it on, my desk vibrates and I don't realize it until I put my elbow on the desk and feel it. So it's possible they could feel it even if it's really minimal... Just a thought.

Either way, i'm glad he's doing better!

Thanks, I just made my Sig. match it.

The only thing on the desk besides the computer moniter is a lamp, a telephone, and a printer. The only thing close to him though is the lamp.

The printer I did not use while he was on the desk.
The telephone did not ring while he was on the desk (Or so I think)
The lamp was on, but I didn't feel any vibration, and I dont know why the lamp would gibve off any vibration.
so?

That's very odd. Is there anything he could see from there that he can't see now?

I once had a problem where my little Amos was going BALISTIC and I couldn't figure out why. I picked up my digital camera with the big ol' lens to take a picture of him so I could post to see if anyone could help me, and he stopped. He was terrified of the big lens staring at him. It probably looked like a huge eye of another fish or something..

He could see

-outside a ground level window, but it would be a stretch
-a large printing of a european monistery
-pictures of my sister (That'd scare me too  )
-my dog walks through there once in a while (But he also sleeps in my room)
-more people (The rest of my family walks through there
-my cat, but she doesn't like fish
-coffee table, couch, chairs, dinning room table, tea cups, fluorl wall paper in the dinning room, ect.
