well at first i hated the thing :grr: but after a few months (2) the skimmer seems to be working very well :fun: it is making lots of skimmate and it is working well. :good:

i orded some more test kits yesterday. (calcium and alkalinity) because soon i will be adding some more corals and i may get some lps ones :good: i will get magnesium and phosphate soon. but i dont have a lot of money atm. is there any more i should get?
i do have nitrate, nitrite, ammonia,ph and soon calcium and alkalinity.

i know but they also didnt have it in stock
i need some help with my cal and alk test kits. i dont get part 6 and bits of 5? on both test kits. so can some one help me understand it a bit more. thanks

As soon as the colour in the test tube changes from pink to blue stop adding - this tube is now redundant (you dont need it)

Turn your attention to the syringe
turn syringe upside down :good:
Now look inside the syringe, the black bung type thing has a top and a bottom, right? Look at the top of it (the bit nearest where a needle would go)
and then read the reading which is in 0.1 measurements :good:
then look at the table on the the otherside of the instructions - its a blooming pain isn't it

so do i take the smaller part of the syringe off (plastic tip bit it says to put on)

oh ok thanks seffie :good: i will try and get this right

i have done some tests
cal is 400
alk is 11-12  what dose this mean?

oh ok it says in one of my book it should be 7-10? for alk

ok i got some coral

i got some zoanthid corals (i think)
and a tree coral? is dosnt look too good atm but that because the hermits walked on it and it is at the bottem of the tank so i dont shock the coral.
