Hard Corals

HI

The lights i use are metal hadale and t5s
o
turned down the temp it is sitting about 25-26 C

Euphyllia don't like to be blasted with light and so ideally be lower in the tank with halides. I would wait and see how you get on with the temperature thing and then we can take it from there.

Keep us informed of the progress

Regards

Depends on what power they are, whether they have individual reflectors and some other stuff.... Probably best left under lighting you all ready have. They like halide light but not the direct blasting for the halide. How is the temperature thingy coming along??

HI my new metal hadel light are comming in 3 weeks had an accident with them.

and just wonderd how would a bubble coral, elegance coral, torch coral and montaporia plating coral, duncan coral, plate coral ,trumpate coral, brain coral, hammer coral,Sky Blue Purple Tip Staghorn Acropora Frag,

How would they be under t8s lights my new hadale lights came of the cealin and fell into the aquarium

Sorry to hear about the Elegance, once you get things settled definitely think on getting another. Glad to hear the torch and duncan are picking up. Just curious do you have any idea why the Elegance died? Also have you checked the water parameters recently?

Regards

Didn't see that post. Is the crashing halide the answer to why the elegance died? Acropora and Montipora, particular Acropora require high lighting so should love the halide. Elegance can handle bright lighting; mine is 6-8 inches from the surface under a 150W halide and loves it. Funny enough it gets the same lighting as my deresa clam!! Torch and hammer do better with a little shade but frogspawn seems quite partial to a good bathing in direct halide light. The bubble coral is a little difficult for me to comment on as I don't own one but have read indirect moderate lighting is best for them. Think the same as torch and hammer. Trumpet corals like moderate lighting again; interestingly this was one LPS that people successfully kept back when marine aquaria started out. Plate will be fine on the substrate as will the brain but higher in the tank will have no ill effects really. Lastly the duncans is a deep water coral so once again think same as hammer. Normally duncans coral is in a soup of sediment and picks up lots of debris to eat but in your aquarium the nutrient levels should be very low therefore a little more light is beneficial.

Hope this helps

HI

The elegance coral just disintagrated dead when i woke up the other morning the thing is i dont have any lights at moment should they be ok under t8 lights for 2-3 weeks
and if not what corals will be ok under t8s lights thanks scott

Edit=The lights are on for 13 hours a day

What corals do you have? If it is the list above then none of them should really be under just T8s. I would suspect that the elegance died because it had no light......... Mushrooms and Zoa which be ok-ish.

Regards

Anyway you can prop them up high in the tank under the light? maybe a plastic tray they can rest on or something? If they're high up in the water column (and the T8's are marine tubes) then they'll be OK.
