Thanks for the replies! : D
The tank is going great. Sand looks SOO much better than the pebbles I have in the biorb. I think I might take some crypts out the biorb and plant them in the iq5 along with the anubias. Just temporary of course. I think the lighting is better in the li'l tank so maybe the crypts will have growth spurts. I'll put pics up when the crypts go in. I'll try to get a picture of the snail too. He's just so small I will probably just get a bleb.

There is this one thing that bothers me though, there's 3 filter chambers in the back of the tank see. ( all 3 have water xD ) The 1st hold media, the second holds nothing but a heater ( I put that there ) and the third holds the pump. The second and third filter keep making gurgling noises so I need to top up the water every 3-4 hours. Not so difficult though. I can just take water straight from the biorb and plop it in the 2-3nd/rd chamber.
Do you think there's a way to prevent this noise?
I could put the heater in the main tank where the lid will stop some of the evaporation?
I have a plan for the scape, I'll draw it up for you guys and post a pic. It's essentially this,
- there'll be duck weed in the back left hand corner
- branching Val on the back right hand corner
- driftwood piece in the middle ground with java moss ( I know it's not native but I can't find any native moss for sale. Really bummed about that ) running along it.
- hairgrass in small groups along the front.
Sounds good?
I'll draw a picture later today.

Is there a way to remove one of the dividers so you can drill some holes to allow for better water flow?

Thats a good idea :) I second this.

With that ammonia from eBay, Australian customs really would not like it haha, they would confiscate it and come knocking on your door. Also Assassin snails are illegal to import into Australia as well so you won't find any here.

The plant layout sounds good, except the duckweed. I've had some, to me it made the surface look messy and it blocked a lot of light out, also duckweed has the ability to double its mass within 48 hours so you might find yourself removing 80% every week. Have you ever heard of Bolbitis? Its an amazing looking plant, a true underwater fern and a great lowlight plant :)

You mean you wont change your stocking to x1 betta now that the polls tell you different?! :p

I don't think they can be moved. Just tried and they're stuck fast. The noise has stopped now. I think moving the heater has made less evaporate. :yahoo:

Bolbitis? Is it native? I'd love to keep it all native if possible. I'm really looking for a easy to grow plant for the back ground of my tank. I could do a different kind of vallis?
Not sure...

I was pretty stuck on shrimp at the beginning. I think if the polls said different I would have gone with shrimp anyway xD.

So, updates.
There is a giant snail in my tank? I have no idea how it got there. Must have hid on the driftwood and then buried under the sand yesterday.
I bought a new thermostat built for betta bowls ( ) its working great, the temp is at 26 degrees.

Main tank is still fine but the crypts have been pulled up. :-(

Haven't got round to drawing my plan. I've tried many times but it ended up looking stupid. Hope you guys get the idea of it though.
Pics will follow.
Full tank shot:

Can anyone can ID snail for me?

The thermomoeter:

I took out the carbon from the filter and replaced it with some media from my established tank.

Possibly ramshorn? Need a side picture to be sure. But that's a pretty big snail to not notice when getting plants. :p

Yup, feel rather silly now xD. I don't want to crush him .

Water is becoming misty. I am assuming this is cause of the ammonia blooms and stuff. Not sure if I should do water changes for the snail or hope it can chunder through it. Thoughts?
Some people on another forum have agreed its a red ramshorn. He's cute. I will call him ' shell-don '.

I got a ramshorn on one of my plants some months ago and only now is it as big as yours! Though he's a brown leopard.

Sometimes he goes up to the surface of the water and floats around like a kid at a water park, but if yours is spending most of its time at the top of the tank or perhaps burrowed under the substrate that's the time to get rid of some of that NH3.

Thanks dreamerTK!

Turns out he wasn't from the plant after all. I told the gf and she said she bought him while I was at work. I knew he couldn't have come in on the plant. Feel rather stupid now.

I definitely don't want to be responsible for the death of sheldon now. :D

That temperature seems a bit low, even in Celsius.  2.7 degrees?  I know its winter where you are now, but you might want to consider heating the tank! :p

Aussie natives are built to last. I could put the shrimp in Antarctica and they'd be fine. :flex:

( the above is a joke. The temperate is 27 degrees. )

I've now lowered the temperature to 2.4 degrees.

Currently at 24 degrees celcius. Eagles was getting at my thermometer not having 0s on their tens and twenties and thirties.

A little joke ;) .

I love the thermometer and heater. I think I might write a review for these things sooner or later. :)

uh i guess im not good with jokes then.,..please do write a reveiw sounds really good.
