hi i have some guppys in a 10g tank. they had babies month ago, but tank still looks empty and big. i was wondering if there are any fish that goes good with guppies but wont eat babies?

thanks
hb

If you say that the guppies were born months ago then a few platties or maybe even a betta.

Bettas might attack the guppies. For some reason, the colors draw bettas to guppies. I can say this from experience (moved a betta that was eyeing a male guppy).

You should add corydoras so you get movement at the bottom. Perhaps a small group of neons for the top provided there aren't too many other fish in the tank.

Well I TOTALLY agree with that .... and depending on how many guppies there are it would be a horrible idea for platys ... not too shoot anyones advice down he was only trying to help  ..... But no betta ....... no mid water ....... some corys are th best I can think of .... and neons or some kind of small tetra that are quick and graze the top

No, I have a male betta living with 3 guppies, and they have no problems, they never even look at each other. It might happen in a small tank 5g maybe.

5 gallon ??? you can't get a few guppies and betta in a 5 .........what we are saying is if you just get a batte and expect it to be okay with some beautiful guppies you need to be ready to move the betta

Some bettas will work well with guppies, sure, maybe not all of them but some will. Or you could get a female betta. It still could work well.

He should NOT risk it if he desn't have the proper facilities if something goes wrong .....

Definately not Gobies. I have a tank of only guppies. 13 adults and used to have 54 baby guppies. They've been living happily for for months! Now I only have less than 10 baby guppies. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to add two cute little Bumble Bee Gobies as mates. I should have realized that they feed on live bate like brine shrimp which happen to be about the same size as baby guppies. Had to remove my gobies, quick!

I would never put a , Betta in with guppies, one betta I owned I asked when I balt him if he be ok with guppies, he said yes but if it was'nt bring him back.

But he did'nt get on, well he rip there tail to shreads, and he went back.

Gobys are no way good for fry.

i think it depends on the betta whether it will get on with livebearers or not.
i put my red betta in with my 11g and blue one in my 27g. the red one was really agressive and the blue one was fine.
think it also depends on the size of the tank. i swapped them over to test the theory and the red ones calmed down but the blue one is still okay aswell. guess he's just more good tempered and the red one needed more space.

didn't touch the fry tho. just the biggest adults - guessing that he took them as some sort of threat?

yer i totally agree it rlly duz depend on the individual fish my bettas live happily with all my fish even the female bettas and he just is quite a placid elderly betta male so i think that helps
