Well I have just gotten 1 male guppy, and 2 females. The ones at the fish store (yes they are an all fish store, and they raise healthy fish) were very nice looking, but all of the females were sick and under quarantine. All except a few females in the tank with the males. These females are pregnant I am assuming, and they are quite far along. I brought them home, seeing as they were the only females, and they are now in the tank with the male. (I am hoping that the drops will be sired by nice males) If not, I can live with it. I am hoping the male will inseminate his sperm within 24 hours of them finishing with their first drop. Is there a way I can be assured? And I am going to move my male and female that is not delivering during the delivery. Is there a safe time to put them back in their tank? I mean at what age or size should the fry be before they can be in a community with the others? And I was also wondering how I can see the gravid spot? I cannot seem to find it... Should it be very clearly visible? Is it just my eyes?

your male would be passing on his genetics within about 20 mins of going into the tank, the females will carry on and have this lot of fry and maybe some more then she will use his sperm to have some more, fry should be grown on for about 3-4 weeks before they are safe to go back in the tank but keeping the guppy adult well fed will stop the fry getting eaten. the gravid should already visible if only a bit, in about 5 days it will start to become more apparent

Can I also point out that guppies can actually store sperm for a few frys, so even if you didn't have a male there, chances are she would get pregnant strait afterwards anyway.

My guppy has been producing fry for the last eight weeks, be prepared for a population explosion

can you tell me how far along they are? (the pictures are a little blurry, but it was nighttime) I would like to know how much longer to wait
