im not possitive of my exact ph lvl but i know its atleast 8.0. iv raised swordtails at this ph and had no problems. are guppys the same or should i buy chems. to bring that down a bit.
Some gupies are pretty hardy and can withstand quite a variety of water types. I would personally think that a guppy would like the water more around the 7.4 range, atleast thats what my fry and adult guppies thrive in. But a guppy would do alot better in 8.0 than in acidic water.
Guppies are very hardy fish with an ability to adapt themselves to ph from a range of 5,5 - 8,5 !!!.
IMO a ph of 8 is OK for guppies and surely I prefer it from trying to lower ph using chemicals and stuff. Of course you can use peat, but I really think that the current situation is OK.
