I have been waiting for my female Moscow blue guppy to drop for ages now, and last night she looked so square i put her in the breeder trap and she gave birth last night :) I have about twenty fry at the moment and have put her back into the main tank because she was trying to eat the fry that were in the net with her :p. The only thing is that my breeder net has a hole in it and i have had to encourage several back into the net again after they escaped! I am going to my lfs to replace it now would you recommend another net or plastic? I am so excited :)

Although I prefer plastic because I can see fry clearer I recommend getting another net for safety. Nets are less likely to cause fry harm and are harder to escape from, as the slit's in a plastic trap can be large enough to let fry escape through :)

I will be putting mines into the plastic one then when they are bigger put them into the net as they kept escaping through the holes in the net!

I always used the plastic ones when I had guppies and platties :)

ok thanks guys i dont know how how anything can fit through those holes they are so small :p some have escaped as can only count 18 now but have moved them into a hole free net breeder they didnt have any plastic ones in stock anyway ill post some pictures in a bit :)

Sounds good :hyper:

Looking forward to the snaps :good:

Very nice, what you planning on doing with them when they get bigger? :)

ill keep a few and my lfs will put the rest in their display tank

Sounds good :)

I kind of miss my guppy days, used to be fun :)

I would continue to use the net, not a plastic box, if you must leave the fry in the tank with adults. A net often has far more room for the fry to use while they grow larger. Swimming room is a good thing to promote growth. As with any animal, exercise is an essential part of growing stronger.

ok thanks, once they are big enough not to be eaten ill release them into the main tank, is it alright that i am just feeding them crushed flakes?

I found it easier to mix of all the adult food, flakes, freeze dried shrimp Ect into a 4 oz Rubbermaid pot and used the back of a teaspoon to crush it into a fine powder, pop the lid on and it is always to hand when you need it.
