Guppy Advice

Since i started the amazing hobby of fish keeping (1yr)it has always been my goal to breed them. I've tried bettas, kribensis, gouramis and mollies with no results. I'm now gonna try guppies, yesterday I bought 1 male and 2 females. They are being kept in a 110l delta with a good covering of plants and a right few hiding places. Any advice on how to do this properly or will it just happen?

With Guppies you just add water Fry every 28 days or so

it's highly unlikely that you won't get babies. it might not happen for a few months if they are quite young though.

Yeah its true. If you see the males swinning into there backside. Its signs of them breeding. They will constantly chase the female. Right up until the fry arrive. Lol.

as said just add water you should have no bother breeding them... are they young or adults ?

I've got 3 female guppies no males. 2 of them have large gravid spots without coming into contact with any males in my care. So they only really need to get 1 load of well I'll call it baby gravy and you can mibby 6-7 lot of fry from them.

Kept in a community tank tho so I can't see many of them lasting very long but i might get 2 or 3 fry.

There apparently quite fragile fish nowdays from what ive read shame really as there really nice to watch shreadding about the top of the water. Good luck

Not sure, they are 3cms including tails!

I'm suprised that you couldn't get the mollie to breed, as their just like guppies, and all you do is provide the proper environment and they will breed

Back when I was trying mollies I didn't have as good a setup as I have now, first tank was all colored gravel and plastic plants!!!

I've had my guppies breed In a tank similar to that, and I've also seen mollies breed successfully in a set up identical to that. We're the water parameters off? That could have been why they didn't breed

It could have been anything, back then I thought you just bought a tank and chucked in some nice fish. I'm a bit older and wiser now!

Yeah, I used to think the same thing too. I was so happy to get fish then I wondered why they kept Dieing off, so I joined this forum and now I now many things abut fish keeping

As long as your guppies are wet, you will have fry. At around 3 cm, you have very young fish so it may take a while before the first drop. After that one, about every 4 weeks you should see a new drop. I just dump my guppies into a group setting with good cover and get this result. Note that I do have heavy cover in the form of java moss in that tank. Guppies make rabbit populations look downright sluggish.
