Hey,
I've got a couple of guppies in my tank and I really wanted to add 6 peacock cichlids. The fish tank is pretty big in height so I thought that since peacocks swim around the middle and bottom area of the tank, it'll be fine because guppies swim at the top near the surface of the water. Would it be OK to add the peacocks? (They would be around 4cm because they're young) there's also plenty of caves for the cichlids to go in and hide.
Thanks

How big is your tank? The water parameters? Peacock cichlids males can be aggressive and due to their large size, they might be able to eat the guppies. Even if they are young, the will eventually grow to a large size.

Just above 30 gallons.
Ph 7.5
Temp 27°C

How much exactly. They need to be in large shoals( ideally at least 6).
Yes I am aware I had 7 however I've had them for around a year and a half so now I only have 3 left. Which is why I want to know if I can add peacocks, because then I will add more guppies.

I would say to start with adding more guppies, then maybe adding cichlids. I have no experience with cichlids so I am not sure if they would be good tank mates but I do have experience with guppies and they love to be kept in shoals. Sometimes we need to put what is optimal in front of what we want. Example : I want chili Rasboras but I know I need more barbs, danios and tetras instead of adding a completely new species.

Peacocks will eat the guppies. Guaranteed. I would never keep a peacock in a 30 - the tank is far too small for that project.

Peacock Cichlids are from Africa. They are very aggressive.
You can only keep them with other African fish that are from the same area.

I think your Guppies won't stand a chance even with the small Peacock Cichlids.
