Hi all,

I got some grindal worm eggs. I don’t have a cooler. I think my fridge is too cold. 🤫don’t tell my family I have worms in the fridge lol

So I got busy and forgot about them… they never hatched. The molded bread had nothing under. I didn’t add enough water for a consistency a worm would like to live in…only the middle but not the surrounding..surrounding dry. Would room temperature of 70 be too warm? Or is it too late the eggs are a goner??

Thanks in advance

If there’s other methods you use I would like to hear about them also if you can spare time.

I haven't heard of culturing Grindal worms from eggs as cultures are usually sold with worms and bedding.
Unlike white worms that do best at 50-60F, Grindal worms are cultured at room temperature. The refrigerator is way too cold for grindal worms or their 'eggs'.

Okay. No not sold. Share by another hobbyists. The adults don’t ship well and die. She hatches hers like this. It’s okay I was just wondering if there’s an easy way cuz I see a few methods online…I had a heatwave so we couldn’t do much so she just share her eggs and how she hatch hers. I just wondered if there other methods out there…I’ll just follow her video. Thanks.
She lives in colder region I’m in hot. So I can’t produce the 60’s temp without a cooler during summer. She said hers goes dormant but there’s plenty of eggs..so I’m just trying bc she’s kind enough to feel for my babies and share food. Thank you for your reply 🙏🏻

I think my fridge is too cold so it’s a lil better in the 70’s room temp so I thought I’d try again. I think she said hers goes dormant or did she say there’s plenty of eggs in the soil and it should hatch lol 😂

Yes, I’ve been waiting for grindal worm availability for a while but couldn’t find any through my peoples lol as king Julian says

so I took a chance and ask a hobbyists I trust if she knew when she would have some on the market but instead she gave me eggs to hatch..that’s really sweet of her so no ..nobody sold me this ;)

Yes..usually sold with a bedding. This is not that…she lives in cold climates…I forget but she use to be in Alaska I think lol so I do not know fish keeps methods for that region for worms ..maybe they’re in colder so it’s harder for temp for them depending on season or something like that lol so hers I think goes dormant cuz she’s snowed out 🤷🏻‍♀️Sorry if I make no sense lol 🌾👀🌾

Regardless of geographical region, Grindal worms are cultured at room temperature of around 72F.
(She may live in Alaska but I'll bet she's not in an unheated hut on the frozen tundra!)

No..indoors..heated…I was more trying to say do you think like she has cold and warm challenges so that’s why she ends up losing adults but have eggs so she starts over to hatch is what I mean

I like to get a clean source so that’s why I rather get it through ppl I trust. So o didn’t order on eBay or the similar.

Cuz I know she just has heat and cold challenges from the snow sometimes so her worms don’t make it but she uses the eggs to hatch it in the right temp ?? No?? Lol ok ty I’ll contact her I didn’t think it was that difficult lol but she has a video so I’ll dog it up and follow it again. Thank you
