Big hello from me, Rodley. Have a 148ltr tank, and currently have a Bristle nose, 4 Tiger fish, a big black shark type fish with an orange tail fin and a silver Angel fish. Sorry don't know their proper names...disaster struck yesterday as after a water change I lost 2 other Angel fish, so found this site and hence have joined. Very useful. Tank now stable, has been my only disaster in 4 years! Don't think it was ammonia spike, nor high toxic levels, nor temp issue.

Hopefully ok now but was most upsetting at the time. Good to meet you all in advance!

Sorry for your losses

If you want to know why this has occurred, maybe you can provide some more information on symptoms and if have made any recent changes or additions to the tank. For example, a new filter, cleaned out the filter/media, tank decor, stocking etc that might help.

Your Tiger Fish, presumably Tiger Barbs, are not very good with Angelfish, barbs can be aggressive/nippy fish so this may be a big factor in your loss of Angelfish. Also would bump up the numbers of them, 4 is not a good group size, they do much better in groups of 6+, really 10+ would be best.

FYI, big black shark type with an orange tail certainly sounds like a Red Tail Black Shark

Hope that helps a little bit.

Thank you for your replies guys, and Ch4rlie, many thanks for the tips and links! I changed the sponge and carbon filters along with water change and suspect it stripped the bacteria out...idiot that I am...rebalanced the tank now, tested PH, Ammonia Nitrite and the only thing that's a bit high is nitrate. Good to meet you all!
Sorry forgot to say Ch4rlie, you were spot on about my Tiger Barbs and my shark fish...he is a red tail black shark - massive! Thanks for the links!
