Green Water

its a fountain pump with filter which is not a filter for filtering ponds, its there simply to stop the waste, frogs ect from getting to the impellar and breaking it.

its made by pontec who is also known as oase pontec.... so good make
have you considered their pontec pondoclear complete filter kit which is a filter,uv,pump and pipe

It has aload of different media. sponges, bio ball type things, a bag of gravel. And i have put in various other flosses and bio materials.

Like i say, i will be extending next year. So i will be adding much more substantial filtration.

i would get the filter for the new pond sooner rather then later or even consider building a diy filter you can run off the pump you have in your pond already
so you can then get a uv up and running or treat with chemicals

Wallet says no at the moment, anyway will let you know how the pond goes. The barley staw is starting to break down so im crossing my fingers that this will have some effect. If not i will give the extract a bash..

you could build yourself a diy filter
this cost my friend under £20 to make

the design is here all he used was
a storage tub,
a bit of clear plastic to make the partitions,
silcone to hold and seal pipes & partitions in place
,you can have them filled with filter wool in the middle 2 bays empty in the last ,
he used a fountain pump connected with a bit of hose
he used this to clear the dead algea and fines to clear his pond as his nexus easy pod wasnt collecting the fines
and he was having to clean it every other day as the blanket weed and algea died off

oh forgot to add you can also do thid with a water butt with a tap on the bottom a bit of hose a bit of pipe silcone filter wool and a grate to keep filter wool off the return pipe

The water butt sounds like an option, but it'll look really bad against my planted area i have around the pond.

If i am going to use the same pump, how much difference will this make? As i will be getting the same lph..

James

no you wont get the same lph.

will be abit less but having a filter would be far more important imo.

hi the water butt is and everyday item in the garden so wont look that out of place

you will loose a little lph as its having to climb a little higher but the filter is a must you can remove some or all of the media in the pump to allow the water to flow easier to the water butt

the longer the contact time with the filter the better so a slower flow isnt a bad thing
