Have a 55 gallon, freshwater planted tank, all levels look good, ph a little high...7.6....4 1/2 weeks into cycle, have 2/4 wpg lighting, eheim 2217 filter, eco gravel, using organic co2 for now an organic plant food....just got pressurized redsea system but not hooked up yet....fish seem to be doing well. Question is I've noticed some green algea starting to grow on the top of my driftwood.....assuming this is a good sign? or not? Nitrates reading 0 pretty much and maybe just a trace of Ammonia but hardly reading at all. Second question....is the tank cycled?

I would scrub off any algae that you can and make sure that you have plenty of fast growing plants in the tank to help out compete the algae.
If there is any ammonia detectable, the tank is not yet cycled, you need to check for nitrite and after that peaks you will get nitrate. There is a pinned topic on cycling in the new to the hobby forum. The ph is fine for a planted tank but the pressurized Co2 will bring it down.

If none of the above, are you keeping your light on for too many hours out of the day?

What is your lighting period, and what fertiliser routine are you using? Is your lighting 2 or 4 or a mix of both? How many and what plants do you have?
