Green Algae

I brought a baby bristlenose pleco today to help clean up the green algae

Great, do you have bogwood for it? :)

Great, I'm sure he will enjoy his new home then!

:) looks like he has settled in now and liking the bog wood and tree ornaments. I am going to see if he will eat cucumber.

He should do :)

A great way to make cucumber stay at the bottom is by shoving a stainless steel teaspoon though it, the "screwcumber" works well too :p

I usually just clip a bit of cucumber to a plant weight. I've got plenty of those over the years and they work fairly well.

That works well too, as does simply weighing it down with a rock :p

I haven't given my bristlenose cucumber for a while, strangely. He mainly just has algae wafers and bloodworm that gets left to fall to the bottom by the others. When he's not eating he just lies under his bogwood, scaring me by looking as if he's dead!

i have just got him some courgette i hear they like them as well. To hold it down i will put a bit of my bogwood on top of it and do you have to cook the courgette ?

I've heard most people blanch the courgette before putting it in the tank.

i have just put it in the microwave for 15 seconds so its nice and soft.

Decent enough idea :)

How did it go down?

My bit was put in a couple of days ago. It seemed to stay there untouched for a little while but has almost completely disappeared now! Something spotted it!
