i had a nice saltwater (fish only) 55 gallon tank and a 20 gallon fish invertabrate tank,10 years ago i enjoyed it very much..one day the while on vacation the 55 gallon tank broke from the bottom i have no idea what happened and i gave up the hobby..this year i watched that damn nemo movie and i got the bug again lol...i want to start a 30 gallon mini reef. my knowledge is from 10 years ago so i kind of frogot what to do. i have a 30 gallon with a coralife double light. each light is 65 watts one is a 10k and the other is a actinic,i have a eheim 2215 with a surface extractor and 2 rena airstones with a rena 400 air pump.in the tank i have 25 pounds of live sand 2 pieces of fiji live rock 3 small blue crabs and 2 yellow damsels..if any one can help me with some more tips ( do i need reverse osmosis and if yes which one should i buy?) im looking to get 2 more small perculas another 10 pounds of live rock and 2 or 3 small coral or 1 coral and one anenome for the clowns..thanku for your help

What is the point in having an air pump, and stones. You can pitch them, you wont need them. I would just put a skimmer on it and a few powerheads and call it good.

i use the ehiem surface extractor as my protien skimmer and the airstones for extra water movement but ill try the power heads wont i be needing a under gravel filter for the power heads i dont want that

No, dont use an undergravel. Just place a few power heads around the tank.

thats a good idea i will keep the airstones so i could get my moneys worth for a little while and then ill buy 2 powerheads can u recommend me a good one i was thinking aquaclear power heads

hmmm maybe you already DID put the skimmate in the coffee (see other thread) :kana:

I like minijets for the tight spots, Maxis is my choice, but I am a reefer.
Stay away from the penguins if you have a current simulator. The impeller will wear out. I have only heard good words from Great Lakes about RIO, what I mean by that is that he is the only one saying good words about them. ;)

power head never used one for a 20 gallon don't think i need one but i'm not sure? :dunno:
