Got my 20g Long with a bunch of cory, and wondering if there's a good choice for fish for the upper water column. Definitely need something non-aggressive. Are neons the best choice? Looking for any suggestions.

looking myself for options for the top of tank as all the fish i like seem to dwell mid or lower levels so I'm following with interest. I quite like endlers though.

Harlequin rasboras.

your pretty safe with cories- provided they can't fit in the other fish's mouth then nearly all mid/top dwellers are safe.

EDIT: sorry forgot my sugestion- black ruby barbs- they go all over and the males are brilliant when coloured up but not a good choice if you want to keep the cory eggs; they are supose to be quite avid egg eaters

I'm really looking for a calm fish because the red eye tetras, though they didn't actually chase or harass the corydoras, did tend to be a bit hyper, which stressed the cory to no end. The tetras panicked a lot, like if I'd go anywhere near the tank, and that used to upset the cory. Now that the tetras are in with the tiger barbs that tank seems to be nicely balanced as far as personalities meshing.

eaglesaquarium, I'm leaning toward the suggestion of harlequin rasboras. Are they fairly calm?

My harlequins can be a little jumpy at times, but for the most part they are rather calm. They are in with my Albino Cories, Platys, and Swordtail, and none of them seem bothered one bit by the Harlequins. I think they would make a nice addition to you tank :)

How about a snake head heard there peaceful and only stay small around 3 inches?

Erm no there not peaceful there predators, they will kill everything in that tank, Please dont post advice before you know about the fish first!
What if this was a person who didnt know anything about fish and went and bought it (Luckily they know about fish)?

Try 3 feet not 3 inches.

A nice large group of harlequins is always good, mine are incredibly peaceful and have lovely little dancing displays between them.

What about some kind of pencil fish?

Yep Harleys are a good choice, mine are very placid,or even the smaller version like the Galaxy rasboras, would look good in a large shoal :)

I also have ember tetras in my smaller cory tank and they're fine :)

My harlequins are plenty calm. When my son gets too rambunctious around the tank, they can get a little spooked, but for the most part they just kind of glide around gently, sometimes in a shoal, sometimes separated. They are great. And they are actually more colorful than I thought. I never knew about the red fringe on the rear of their bodies... I just knew about the black "porkchop" shape on their sides.

My harlequins are very active but gentle swimmers, they are ideal tank mates for Corys. They aren't overly shy either which is nice. Lots of personality too! :)
