nope , but i did make her breakfast this morning lol . its funny she moans like crazy about my tank and how much of a pain it is , even to the point where she kicks off sometimes , yet when the tank was taking too long to warm up and i was meant to be going out, she said shed do the fish so i could still go out. i think secretly she likes it lol

I have a wife just like that too!!! moans like mad about how much attention the fish get lol

glad its not just me then lol . just wait until april then when i do my next tax return , and sell the 3 im not happy with and buy 6 big adults for probably about £100 each!!!

that way il have a group of 9 and it would be nice if a couple of em were show quality

what ive found with discus is that until they hit a certain size you can never be sure exactly how good they are . some can develop flaws , while it can go the other way too and others will grow the flaws out. and being the kind of person that doesnt do half measures i have decided 3 are keepers and 3 are not . they are by no means ugly fish and are healthy they just arent good enough for ME

you can buy a 4 inch fish that grows into a real beauty like my big turq , equally you can buy a 4 inch fish and it stays a 4 inch fish. so if i buy 6 big adults in the 7 inch range i can see exactly what im getting from the word go. well thats my excuse anyway

Is the tank all set up? Can't wait to see that Background. I understand what you are saying about buying adults. Yet for me half the fun of discus is watching them grow. If you grow out a great fish your self then it makes it all worth it. But I think if you are looking to breed then buying adults is the only way to go. I love that wood it is great.

no its not all set up snowflake , still just the bogwood. i havent got the background yet , its the next thing on my wish list. in all fairness there are too many other priorities for money at the moment so i doubt i will get the tank the way i really want it this side of christmas but im not in any hurry .

i agree that growing out the discus is half the fun . but even with the best care it can still be hit and miss. 3 of my 6 have grown out into real beauties , but the other 3 havent lived up to expectations. and as i am trying to acheive a whole tank of stunners , the next time i buy fish it will be adiults.

Yeah it's true you never really know how they will look untill full grown. Genetics can't be changed with perfect care I understand. It will be interesting to see your next move with this tank. It looks good.

for now all i will be doing is adding a plain black background tomorrow , once thats on il see if i can get my mate round for some fish pics , then other than trying to find some nice branchy pieces of wood that will probably be it until christmas has been and gone.

thats was the cardinals i put in just before the discus went in . theres 50 in that shoal.
