I know that this isn't the goldfish/koi forum, but there's only one post and it's over a year old. I just want to know if I can put 2 small comets into a tank with 2 larger ones. I got 4 of the small $.25 comets for my grandson over a year ago, and they're 2-3" long now. 2 of them died and he wants 2 more. I just can't see spending 6 bucks on a goldfish, and want to just put 2 more small ones in there. The 2 bigger ones won't hurt them, will they? Just curious...thanks

The smaller ones should be fine in there if they are larger than the comets moth.

They should be fine as long as the tank is 40 gallons or more. I would actually make it a 50 gallon because the first goldie needs 20 gallons and 10 for each goldie after that.

fyi....you might want to quarantine the new feeder commets(new ones of course) becuase at all the lfs in my town except 1 the feeders are pretty much dieing of multiple diseases. y not spend around 6 bucks for a goldfish. they are a lot nicer than the plain commets used as feeders and are generally kept in better conditions than the feeders.

FYI, there is a coldwater fish section for goldies & koi, here in the tropical fish forums. I think it's under "Other Pets", near the saltwater sections towards the bottom.

I suspect Crittermom was looking at the pinned topics not the active topics. The last date a pinned thread was added to was July 2004.

Shows when i last looked at the pinned topics then :S

In a year the fish should be around 4 or 5 inches long.
How big is your tank as comets need 15-20 gallons each.
