Gold Ram Covered In White Spots

the white spots look like ich - it's a parasite that is more likely to take hold if the fish is stressed. You can't cure it by making the fish less stressed, you'll need to medicate or use one of the other ich eradication methods (high temps, salt, etc.)

What's a good ich cure? I have one but can't remember the brand. I can't get api super ich cure in the uk for some reason.

I have used Interpet Anti White Spot successfully in conjunction with a temp. increase to 30c during the course of the medication.

Thanks mate, I'm going to try by best to clear the white spots and my friend said he will have the off me (90L planted tank) should be fine for them
I think.

I'm not real sure about this, but I think rams are sensitive to salt. I could be wrong. Do a little research and find out. If they are sensitive to it, you will want to do a big water change to get rid of the salt you already put in there. Good luck!

From what iv read, your right. I just did a 80% wc and iv took out my filter while I treat for ich.

oh right, carbon sponge/pack, when you say filter i think of the whole thing, lol :)

Well....thats the thing, its just a sponge filter. I used to use it in my breeding tanks, so yea the whole filter has been removed.

err...

Those sponges are not carbon sponges, they might be black, but they are not carbon sponges. Get rid of those and you wont have anything acting as your biological filter right? So the water will just sit there being poluted by the fish and instead of dying from whatever the white spots are, they will just die in ammonia :D

truth be told, the sponges look spotless in the picture you uploaded, have they been cycled?

I was told they was carbon, there in a bucket out side the tank (to keep and bacteria alive) i will pop them back in now. :/

how about a pic of the sponge filter? I use sponge filters in my little tanks and I haven't seen any with carbon sponges.

They are on the first page :)

They are air driven sponge filters. They are very good and excellent for fry tanks! Lots of people use them in bigger tanks too. :)
