Going Nano

I have come home and found basically all my plants but the crypts uprooted by my cories. This tank needs some serious attention. I have to add substrate as the sand layer is a bit too thin, I need to replant my plants and add some more. I am thinking of putting the anubias petite in this tank to give it a bit more perspective. I'll see what I can do and post pics later.

Have you managed to replant everything? It looked like a great little tank before, interested to see if you have sorted it out after the cories? :)

So, here are the promised pics! I had to replant everything as my cories had uprooted all plants. When I took the pictures I noticed though that they had managed to uproot already another one.... :grr:

Anyway, the plant without an ID went into this tank, and I added some sag which is basically the only plant together with the cabomba that grows well.... As you can see I am having some algae issues at the moment, so I have started to add 1 ml of carbon liquid every day to get rid of it hopefully.

I am inclined to start dosing through root tabs as my travels are so frequently that regular dosing is only regular for at most a month at the time. The root tabs will ensure a steady release of nutrients into the substrate and though plants easier take up nutrients through the water column I think in my case it is more important to avoid fluctuations in nutrient availability.

After my last trip I found 3 of my 4 killies dried out on the floor. The automatic feeder had left a small gap open, and yes, they jumped out! I have decided to take the remaining one to a friend which has more golden wonders and is breeding them at the moment. The tank is temporarily stocked with some young female bettas. Once they are bigger, they will go into a different tank and be conditioned for breeding. My males can't wait...

But enough babbling, here are the pics!

First a full tank shot:

One of the bettas resting in the cabomba. You can already see some of the algae:

Here is a clearer picture of the algae; it is still manageable but I need to act now....
