Hi all
Not sure if there's a thread on this topic, I was too lazy to look but also prefer real time response rather than reading old text.

I could simply use Google for that.

Q. What is your preferred method of cleaning the glass of your tank?

I use a sock, rinse it in the sink real good, put it on my hand, then wipe down the glass with it. I just hang it over one of the bars on my stand to dry when I am done, then rinse it before I wipe the glass the next time. The first time I used my "cleaning sock" I rinsed it extremely well in case any laundry detergent was still in it, and I haven't had any issues

That made me chuckle.. lol.
I've never even considered a sock lol.
I'm the type who tries to find the best I can afford. But yea why not, it does the job.

I have a sponge on a stick, the blue type. I was thinking of getting a magnetic one but my glass is curved. Do they make ones that aren't flat?

Haha, I just can't let my mom know I am using one of the new socks she just bought me  I don't actually think she would care though

How do you like the sponge on a stick? I have been considering buying one. I would honestly not recommend a magnetic one. I hate mine. It makes a grinding noise and has scratched my glass several times, and if you get too close to your silicone it scrapes it all away. You can't really get into the corners or close to your substrate because it does damage. There may be nice brands out there that are better though. Mine was just a cheap one off Amazon

It's only a sock lol easily replaced.

The sponge is decent just a bit messy cause it soaks a lot of water up. Does the job though.

Last thing I want is to scratch the glass, seconds thoughts on a magnetic one now

Very true, haha.

Ohhhh ok

The scratching was not serious, just minor, barely visible little scuffs, but it did mess up my silicone when I let my sisters use it (they like to clean the glass for me) but it didn't cause leaks. Just doesn't look as nice and smooth anymore

I get what you mean.
I might stick a sports sock on my hand lol nice and precise.
Hey what about those shower gloves? You know the type?

Pygmy cories unfortunately won't keep the glass clean, as they are bottom dwellers eating bits of uneaten food off the substrate rather than algae eaters, who suck on the glass
Ahh right ok. Was thinking of getting some snails. The bumblebee horned type. They any good?

I believe those are a variety of nerite snails. They will eat stuff off the glass for sure! I have a little Olive Nerite, it crawls around sucking on the glass alllll day long
