Hello! Greetings from Malaysia and the quintessential newbie story. Daughter won some guppies in a fair, we had no idea about nitrogen cycles and what not so guppies keeled over dead one by one. Oh and one managed to poop out some fry, which promptly got eaten and traumatised the daughter.
Went to the LFS for advice and was given the usual quick sales SOP, ended up doing daily 10% water changes while doing fish-in cycling for seven straight weeks and now we’ve just completed cycling a 5 gallon for future guppy fry.
Main tank is a twenty gallon with 2 ottos (we got 6 but two died on day 1, and transferred 2 to the new tank to let them buffet on the diatoms there), 5 orange corys and 5 guppies. At the rate we’re going we’re probably going to get more tanks as it’s really good bonding time for us
